Let them KNOW!

I love the fact that I live in an era where individuality is a forgotten trait. Nowadays, people have a hard time making a decision by themselves that they turn to family members, parents and their friends to help them arrive at a defining point.

Things have gotten so bad that take a look at catalogues such as Eddie Bauer, Talbots, LL Bean and Abercrombie & Fitch, to name a few, you may not notice it at first, but spend some time looking at each page carefully and you'll see what I'm writing about. The 'look' and the way we dress, speak and sometimes think is forced upon us and yet we have the audacity to call ourselves individuals. Let's be REAL!!

Travel to any major city and you will quickly see that the guys are dressing like the women and the women are dressing like the men. Colors that once defined being feminine are now being worn by grown ass men. Pastel colors are now the 'in' thing and men in their mid-30s are not afraid to show their softer side. This is a good thing, I guess?

No longer can corporate America say 'urban' because it's a bad word. Urban means the hood and even an astute 5-year old will tell you that, so who is being played? Corporations go after the ever-trendsetting 13-35 year old demographic because they know that this age range has alot of power and sets the trends of what is and what is not hot. So, if you're older than 35-years old where does this leave you? Well, companies are waking up and realizing that people are leading more active lives and have just as much say at to what is 'in' and what is 'out' as do the 13-35 year olds. Thank goodness, right?

Don't be afraid to be peculiar. Peculiar is what peculiar does. Be who you are and leave all the analyzing to the analysts on Wall Street who have little concept of reality because in my neighborhood, you have to walk the walk and talk the talk and Let them KNOW!
