Two Classy Men

When names Charles Barkley and Joe Dumars come up, what do you think? Well, some may think of Joe Dumars playing with the Bad Boys a/k/a Detroit Pistons in the late '80s and '90s, when he was holding the 2-position and playing stifling defense on a number of players, but especially matched up against Michael Jordan.

Dumars is the consummate gentleman and for a team that had a bunch of trash-talking, in-your-face basketball players that resembled a football team, it may have appeared that Joe D. was out of place with the Pistons. That's not the case because the man brought a quiet tenacity to the team and simply wanted to win each and every game. You could see it in his play and certainly on his face.

Charles Barkley a/k/a The Round Mound of Rebound, played the game too with an enormous amount of energy and will-to-win. He wanted to win and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. Now, his mouth often got him in trouble with the League and, oftentimes, with the media. Chuck has never been one to back-down from anyone and we were reminded of just that when he said, "I am not a role model." The Chuckster caught alot of heat for his comments, but what people forget or was conveniently left out by the media is the fact that Barkley was saying that parents have to be role models to their children.

It's been a year since Dumars and Barkley were inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame and we wanted to congratulate them once again. Walk Good!
