It was a long time coming, but Allen Iverson has had fill in the City of Brotherly Love. If you're a frequent reader of this blog, then you may recall when this past summer when the 76ers were putting out feelers to see if any teams were interested in picking up the Answer and his hefty $18,281,250 (as reported for the 2006-07 season). There was alot of talk of the Boston Celtics picking up AI, and, I for one, was rooting for the lowly Celtics to sign him. Maybe, just maybe, it would have rekindled my joy for watching the Celtics. What do the C's end up doing, they go out and sign Sebastian Telfair, who was a good high school player, but is an undersized guard and lacks a consistent jump shot. Telfair is almost as bad as Jason Kidd when Kidd first entered the League and was relentlessly referred to as "Ason" because he no "J".
Whatever team does man-up and signs AI, they know what they're getting-- a consistent scorer who averages 31.2 points, hits the board for an average of 2.70 rebounds and knows how to spread the peel with 7.3 assists per game.
Look past his tattoos, cornrows and "Me against the World" attitude, you see a competitor that wants to win. That just may be the attitude that the Celtics are lacking as a back court of a healthy Paul Pierce and AI= The Truth and The Answer!
I hope to see these sneakers in Green & White!
AI has had it!
