H-Town Sneaker Summit

If you've tuned into the OSD Talk Show, then you heard that the H-Town Sneaker Summit was taking place in August 2009, and when I say "taking place" those words don't even do it justice because Kadoma and the entire H-Town Sneaker Summit crew got it IN!

Take a look at a the video to catch a glimpse of what took place in Houston!

Case of the Bootlegged Bespoke...AGAIN!

The REAL BESPOKE is pictured ABOVE as tagged by Sneaker News

My good home skillet Pete from Premium Laces NY gave me the heads up that recently his recent Bespoke creation at Nike Sportswear has been listed for sale on Ebay at the price of $550. It was immediately shut down after the listing was put on alert by folks from all over. BUT, that was not enough for fake sneaker seller (GOT.SOLE on ebay). He chose to re-list the shoes AGAIN (talk about balls huh)? Sneaker News posted news of the bootleg listing yesterday at the same time that GOT.SOLE's entire list of items was put ON SMASH by the Ebay staff. Peep the NERVE of this "seller" (for lack of a better word) who actually post a comment in the Sneaker News post after being shut down...

GOT.SOLE (SO FUCK U!) Says:

BSB Grand Opening...Brooklyn, WE GO HARD!

BSB (Formerly Known As "Brooklyn Sneaker Box") GOES IN like Michael Phelps hittin' a bong after swimming a medal winning relay. While the New York Yankees were getting smashed 22-4 in their new multi-million dollar stadium by the Cleveland Indians (real talk, no joke), BSB came out the gate swinging for the fences in their Grand Opening event.

It's been a long time since I've witnessed a store with such diversity in product from old to new, with quite a few pieces of noteworthy iconic pieces sprinkled throughout the store (including a vintage "Street Fighter 2" arcade game up in the spot). My Blackberry Storm was begging me to stop and go get a real camera...but I couldn't. There was just too much good stuff I had to capture as it caught my eyes. Peep the pictures, and if you're in Brooklyn... you need to hit up BSB! Special shout to the homie Skram! We at OSD wish you the best of Everything!

The Peeps (Top to Bottom): Mel (FluD Watches), Dee (BSB Co-Owner), Will Eddins (Center) of Karmaloop.com and his peeps, BSB Co-Owner Skram (1st as the Tourist, and 2nd the sneakerhead "Literally")...

Shoppers were in the place to be! One shopper bought a pair of Nike Pushead SBs for a pretty penny on this sunny Brooklyn afternoon...Recession huh? Don't tell the kid who dropped 3 C-Notes...

Iconic items were all over the place in BSB. Word is Dee (BSB Co-Owner) is the current Street Fighter 2 champ...

WHO REMEMBERS THIS FEATURE ARTICLE FROM SPORTS ILLUSTRATED? THIS IS PART OF THE REASON JORDAN RELEASES ARE NOW ON "SATURDAYS". PROPS TO BSB FOR HAVING THIS LAYING AROUND. YOU GUYS BETTER PUT THAT IN SOME PLASTIC!

Now to the kicks... Like I said before, BSB is swinging for the fences! Here are some of the kicks on their Jordan Wall...

Here is some of the diversity that BSB has on display for customers of varying footwear tastes (Some Air Forces, a few Nike SB Dunks, a little bit of Asics, a touch New Balance, a splash of Prada, and Supra is in the building as well)...

And now on to the BSB Fitted Hat section

Some of the dope T-Shirts that BSB put up right on time for the Summer of 09...

AYO! What time is it?

PLEASE KEEP YOUR HANDS (and your drool) OFF THE GLASS! It's not the Hustler Club!

KEEP YOUR LACES TIED TIGHTLY, YOUR TONGUES LOOSE...WALK GOOD!

Obama Kicks

So if you missed it, Will.i.am was rocking the Obama Air Force 1s to the BET Awards. The sneakers were customized by Van Taylor. Word is the kicks are being sold for $500 and part of the proceeds are going to the Barack Obama campaign.

Black History Month & The Spirit Of Giving

Most times Black History Month comes and goes without even a mention in today's society. I too am guilty of forgetting the month that has been singled out to remember the sacrifices and achievements of those that came before me and those who have not yet made their place in not just Black History but American History as well. This year I was reminded of this by a friendly gesture of giving from one friend to another. Some may not know that every year Nike creates a sneaker to commemorate the rich history of African Americans. This year was no different. I would usually get a glimpse of each years shoe online and would soon forget about it when the next hot release popped up. By the virtue of friendship, I was given a pair of these shoes. At first, I only thought about the fact that I was getting a free pair of shoes (any sneaker heads wet dream) but upon arrival my thoughts were completely transformed. Inside the box was a letter from Larry Harper (Vice President for Nike's US regions) explaining the symbolism behind this year's shoe. As I read the letter, I realized that these were more than just a pair of shoes, they were a representation of African American history. To look at the shoe as just that would be a waste. The letter explains that each part of the shoe is a representation of our (African American) history. The letter goes on to explain that each year the shoes that are designed are GIVEN away to those people who "influence their community and contribute to the elevation of mankind". When I read that it finally hit me that these were not just a pair of "free" shoes, they are a representation of not only our history but our future as well. So I would just like to thank those who helped me to see what this gift really represents. THANK YOU!

Obama Kicks

If you've been living under a rock and haven't read a newspaper or walked by a television that's highlighting the latest debate or polls, then you need to quickly step out of your comfort zone and get a LIFE!

Obama's candidacy for the Democratic nomination is getting stronger, like Kanye West at the Grammy's, and even though we at OSD rarely write about politics (yeah, right!?), we had to post these pictures of a pair of customized Air Force 1s honoring Obama's run for Big Seat.

Sneaker Spotlight: 40/40 Club

I'm always amazed with the number of "special sneakers" that celebrities and athletes have tossed their way. What's more amazing is when that celebrity has their own sneaker line with a competing company ala Jay-Z, who still has a deal with Reebok, is often pictured wearing Nike footwear.

Well, a few years ago the good folks at Nike decided to offer their "blessings" and make a special Air Force 1 for Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in New York City.

Without further adu.....we at OSD present the 40/40 Club White/Black-Silver Air Force 1 lows:
