OSD: Episode 83: Woody of Sneaker Freaker Mag & CNN Sneakerhead article

The OSD Crew is joined by Woody, Founder and Editor-in-Chief, of Australian-based Sneaker Freaker Magazine, and if you haven't read Sneaker Freaker Magazine then it's time to hit your local bookstore and pick-up issue 15.

Woody gives us the low down on Sneaker Freaker, why he started the magazine and how they remain on point. To say that they're focused, would be an understatement!

In the second half of the show, hear as we discuss the CNN article entitled,"'Sneakerheads' pay big bucks for rare kicks".

Is there a responsibility on the behalf of sneakerheads to educate someone that is wearing a pair of fake sneakers? What do you think? Email us with your comments at ObsessiveSneakerDisorder@gmail.com or post your comment for others to read.

We're back at it again next week for Episode 84 and, as usual, you never know who'll drop by the show to talk kicks and culture!

Dash: "I'm going to sell Stride Rite the license back."

Damon Dash, former CEO for Rocafella Records and business partner to Jay-Z, was videotaped at a club in NYC earlier this month where he shared his thoughts on fashion, his new clothing line and his deal with PRO-Keds.

Dash went on to say, "I don't own it; I license the brand. It makes no sense to build a brand you don't own."

Also, check out Jim Jones as he talks about his upcoming album and his top-5 sneakers.

Whatcha Doin' Guy?

I enjoy watching actors, comedians, athletes and the like get dipped to appear on the red carpet because there is always some that takes it too far. This year's award goes to Guy Torrey, who from the close-up picture of him and his wife, looks good. But upon further review we see that he's wearing a short-set suit!!

You see, if I tried to pull this type of fashion statement on the red carpet, my wife would have slapped me upside my head faster than you can say Kick IT!

Note the (PRODUCT) Red Converse kicks that Guy is rockin'? Good product placement Nike, um, I mean Converse.

What's Going On?

I've been taking a hiatus from the many ezines and blogs that supposedly report on the ever-growing and recognized by the masses (Wall Street Journal)sneaker culture. The term "Limited Edition" has been so played out and watered down that folks in the know are finally realizing that the culture is not about who has the most limited or player exclusive kicks or the most pairs, rather it's about the quality of the kicks and the stories associated with them. Yeah, someone may call me out and ask how many pairs of "Limited Edition" or player exclusive sneakers I own (I have no clue), but the reality is that each pair has a story that brings a smile to my face.

Now that everyone and their mother is doing "collaborations" it was inevitable to see the likes of New Era become the Old-New Kid On The Block, when many of the sneaker boutiques and clothing labels open accounts with them and have some really dope fitted hats produced and some others that should have never seen the light of day.

For the people that have seen me at various events know that I like hats and fitted hats for that matter. That's why when it was time to have some simple, yet iconic, hats made for Sole Collector, I had to get involved.

Eventhough I like the fit and feel of a New Era fitted, I long for the days of a two-tone The GAME hat. You remember what they look like, right? Here's an example of a solid color one:

So, here are two new hats that I'll be wearing this summer.
